Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
JEFIS is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties — editors, reviewers, and authors — are expected to adhere to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Editors' Responsibilities
- Evaluate manuscripts solely on intellectual merit, free from discrimination.
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
- Disclose and manage conflicts of interest.
- Investigate suspected misconduct and issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern where warranted.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of the manuscripts reviewed.
- Disclose conflicts of interest and decline reviews where such conflicts exist.
- Not use unpublished manuscript content for their own work without written consent.
Authors' Responsibilities
- Guarantee that submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
- Properly cite all sources; not plagiarise or self-plagiarise.
- List only individuals who made a substantial contribution as authors (CRediT taxonomy recommended).
- Disclose all funding sources and conflicts of interest.
- Disclose any use of AI writing or paraphrasing tools in the manuscript.
- Notify the Editor immediately upon discovering a significant error in a published work.
Plagiarism Policy
JEFIS uses similarity detection software on all submissions. Manuscripts exceeding 15% overall similarity, or 5% from any single source, will be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright depending on the extent and nature of similarity found.
Authorship & AI Policy
AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) cannot be listed as authors. Authors who use AI assistance in writing or data analysis must disclose this in the Methods or Acknowledgements section, specifying the tool used and the nature of its use.
Retraction & Correction Policy
JEFIS will issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in accordance with COPE guidelines. Retracted articles remain visible on the journal website with a clear retraction notice.
